Cabeza Prieta Natural History Association
Ajo, Arizona

Coffee Pot Mountain

The Cabeza Prieta Natural History Association is an educational and charitable organization located in the heart of the spectacular Sonoran Desert in Ajo, Arizona. The Association is dedicated to stimulating interest in and providing knowledge about the natural history of the Sonoran Desert as well as the Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge, which is home to many rare and endangered desert plants and animals. Although we share the name Cabeza Prieta we are not associated with nor do we have any relationship with the Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge. We do use their lands, educate the public about it's natural history, and support it's mission to protect these Sonoran Desert lands for generations to come.

Detailed information about Southwestern Arizona native plants, birds, reptiles, mammals, insects, spiders, geology/geography and climate can be accessed using the Natural History links on the right side of the screen. There are simple search pages to assist in the identification of unknown desert plants and unknown birds.

Information about The Association and Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge, including information about Sonoran desert field trips, community events and an educational Winter Lecture Series by well-known speakers can be accessed through the navigation links on the left side of each web page.

The Cabeza Prieta Natural History Association derives a large portion of its financial support through donations from the users of this web site. The Association is a tax-exempt organization under the IRS 501(c)3 rule. Your tax-deductible donation will allow The Association to continue providing educational information about the Sonoran Desert through this web site and it will enhance many of the activities of the Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge.
