Volunteer Day

Join the Refuge staff and other Members and friends to do good work to make the Sonoran Desert a better place for all. Meet at the Refuge parking lot at 8:00 am and bring gloves, lunch, walking shoes, water and sunscreen. Place and project TBA for information or to volunteer call Margot at 387-6483.

Childs Mountain Tour 5:00 PM until Sunset

Learn about the history of the highest point of land in the Ajo Area and see magnificent views of the desert as the sun sets and you enjoy your picnic dinner. Overlook the Cabeza Prieta Refuge, see the Barry M. Goldwater Range and learn of the Air Force installation that used the mountain.
Exit Hwy 85, Left, between mileposts 36 & 37.
No facilities; dress warmly, bring
binoculars, camera & food

Visit the Photography exhibit by many talented nature photographers, divisions for Youth, Amateur, and Professionals. Enter a photograph of a Sonoran Desert nature theme. 8X10 on foam board mounts. Rules and submission requirements to be announced.

Sonoran Symposium

Many presentations on the Sonoran Desert focused on Natural History, Archeology, and Culture. Registration is free but is required in order to attend. Meals may be purchased as a part of the registration process or register for the whole conference and meals for $100.
